A radio galaxy from when the universe was a baby may be the most powerful ever found

The galaxy TXS 2354+015, seen as it was 12.5 billion years ago, pumps out nearly twice the radio power of the previous record-holder, making it the most powerful radio galaxy known, a supermassive black hole roaring from the universe's first billion years.

We see it as it was 12.5 billion years ago, when the universe was barely a billion years old, yet it still outshines every other radio galaxy on record. Astronomers think TXS 2354+015 is the most powerful radio galaxy ever found: a supermassive black hole roaring in radio light from the infant cosmos, with nearly double the power of the previous record-holder.
